Is this the 1.2 million gallon tank? If so, it is one of the largest aquarium exhibits on the planet and home to approximately 100 species. Is there an opportunity for the general public to view the top of the tank or is everything seen via underwater windows?
Everything is seen via underwater windows, the tank is surrounded by viewing. Is this larger than the georgia aquarium tank?
There used to be a manta ray kept in here. Now there is a devil-fish (Mobula mobula) which I believe is one of only two in Europe. Beautiful tank and the ocean sunfish is a fantastic sight
Lisbon's 1.2 million gallon tank is larger than the 1 million gallon Open Sea tank at Monterey Bay Aquarium but both are tiny in comparison to Georgia Aquarium's 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager whale shark exhibit. That is an amazing piece of architecture and well worth placing on anyone's "bucket list".
