Brazilian Tapir

This is the best photo I could get of the new Brazilian tapir at the zoo because it decided to sit down behind the long grass just after I took this photo. Does anyone know where it came from and what happened to the Malayan tapir that used to live here?

Could it have come from Mogo?

That's what I thought. Dubbo is another possibility though. I wonder if Melbourne's Malayan tapir has moved to where ever this one came from?

I know that this Brazilian Tapir didn't come from Taronga but it could be a possibility that they will try to pair up Melbourne's with Taronga's? Or maybe this tapir is from Adelaide and Melgourne sent their (Malayan) tapir to form a small group with the mother-daughter pair?

The tapir arrived from dubbo in 2011.Unfortunatly I haven't got the answer on where the Malayan went.Pretty sure it died. The tapir was born in 2006.It is a male named Arturo.Hoppfully that answers your question Pat.
