@Miniaturezoo954: Why is it the standard response to accuse the other of a lack of humor? Neither very fancy nor close to the truth. In fact, I think a good sense of humor is similar to being a gourmet; the more you appretiate the subject itself, the more you appretiate quality. Let's be honest with each other: those comments were not really prime examples of witty, sparkling and delightful humor the world desperately needed, were they? And in my, and obviously others', eyes, the jovial intention wasn't recognisable as such. Detractive "BS" is btw not only limited to American citizens...
The jokes and mutual playful mocking you're shared with Russians were probably accompanied by various amounts of mimic, gestic etc., conveying their carefree, non-serious "good nature". With gestic and mimic stripped away by the Internet, all the potential reader is confronted with is the mere word. No matter how many smileys you might attach to it, your intention can thus easily be misinterpreted-especially when it comes to mocking about different ethnic or social groups. I had some bad experience with that; my comment was just intended to warn you to be more careful-especially when it comes to immature, mindless joking...
It's quite amusing, yet also rather sad that while dishing out Sim's suggestion to ignore each other as your own idea, you personally can't stick to that very credo, @zooman. Why else would you be so eager to read my comment, throw in your two cents and try to root against me? And as you bring up the point of "critique"-shouldn't you still be sulking around because of Chlidonias' oh so "harsh" correction of the nonsense you wrote?

I get you, i really do, but all i was really trying to tell you is that i was more focused on playing around with snowleopard than thinking that i was offending anybody, and this will not happen again, i'm here because i love zoos, all zoos, not trying to put down any country, especially a country, that has helped my country a lot, for some reason you complicate things a bit, not sure what that is about, so if i made a mistake and offended, sorry, it really was not what i was after.

I would never have thought that a simple picture can trigger a such skirmish! My friends, this is just an old-old bear-house. Fortunately, it will left to live soon. I must say that Lenin had not seen this building, because by that time he was already 10 years dead. But he could (if he visited the zoo, of course) see exactly the same and at the same place - the bear-house had been burned down and built anew! @Sun Wukong, thank you for your kind words!
