The photos of the Leningrad Zoo seem to depict an outdated zoo husbandry style-comment on that if you feel like it. But cracking insipid jokes is neither fair to the locals nor to the person taking the pics and uploading them here.
And for the record my attention was not to make fun of the great people of Russia, they have helped my country for many years, i was just trying to play around with snowleopard, but i get it, it was of bad taste, for that i'm really sorry, last thing i want to do is offend anybody, i guess i don't really get offended when the Miami Herald has a drawing of cubans eating the animals in the Zoo, it is all in good humor, is the best we can do in hard situations like this.
And i will go as far as saying that i love european Zoos, i will take any old looking european zoo and old cage for its historical value over a simple done modern day exihbit, with a few exeptions. Once again sorry for the bad joke.

If this apology is serious, then I really appretiate it and congratulate you; it takes courage and intelligence to stand in for one's mistake and apologize for it.
I don't know which cartoon you refer to, and honestly, I don't want to know it; responding to offences with another offence is never a smart move...

Yes Sun wukong i'm not a foe, but a friend, and if my comments offended you, i'm really sorry, it was meant with no bad intentions, i just had the idea of writing answers to snowleopard in a way that i thought it would put a smile on it, not make other members hurt or angry, i made a mistake.
One question, do you think the East Berlin Zoo, got a lot of its design from Russian influence, or was it just pretty much their own concept to be completely different from West Berlin, because i remember the exihbits in Tiepark to be very large, and some very modern, even the large building, having a lack of space for many animals, it's huge.
About East Berlin Zoo (Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde): if you take a closer look at various zoos in the former Central and Eastern European satellite states of the USSR, you can find a continuous uniform pattern in the zoo architecture that we have coined "East Bloc zoo architecture" in this forum.
The East Berlin Zoo is a special case, though. Like I wrote in another comment, it was supposed to be kind of a "showcase" zoo, to outline the superiority of the GDR in comparison to the capitalistic West, even when it came to zoos...

sorry for such a long silence and for miniaturezoo's humor - he's wrong: no rats leves here! Yes, theese are 6 separate cages for such species as Ermine (Mustela erminea), Weasel (Mustela nivalis nivalis) and Siberian weasel (Mustela sibirica). And all of this cages are outdoors, besause there are indoors cages inside the pavillion, as well.
