Melbourne Zoo April 2013

Possibly the best non-animal interactive learning eperience ever in a zoo! Zoopermarket is within the Orang-Utan viewing hut, and allows you to scan common products to see if they contain certified Palm Oil or not. It tells you if the company uses sustainable oil, is going to by 2015, or isn't at all, and also allows you to send a message to the government (I think) saying that you think Palm Oil should be labelled.

This is a very good idea and one that could be copied more widely, a small list or notice is rather ineffective but this display really should help get the message across.

Colchester's Orang exhibit is otherwise pretty ordinary, but it does have a lot of info about the perils of palm oil. Nowhere as effective as this though.
