How common are these in Spain K? we don't seam to see any her in the UK, they used to be quite common, but not any more. I can't recall the last time i saw one certainly not in the 11 years we have lived in this house.
 
Hello Dean,
the abundance of this moth varies a lot depending of the area and climate of the zone. There are zones for example in Portugal where this speices is fairly common. In the Pyrenees, where is photographed, is not extremely rare but also not very common. Where I live, and arid steppe valley, this species is extremely scarce, I only saw a dead one in my school as a kid in all my life. Here is substituted by Arctia festiva, that is uncommon, and Cymbalophora pudica, that is common.
