this zoo looks amazing, but what i'm starting to see is that the zoo does not have enough foliage/shade inside the exhibits, which makes the animals look for shade under the rocks. there is actually like 2-3 chimps in the pic and they are all in the shade under the rocks.
The zoo is new build zoo (initiated construction 3 years ago) and open in February 28 this year, the plants and trees are very young (and little) depending species and location in zoo areas, have more "big" trees (Madagascar zone) or not too much big in savannah and equatorial Africa, i hope in 3-5 years, it´s look very leafy. This enclosure are about 3.000 square meters and it is planned for gorillas, chimpanzees, grey mangabeys, owl-faced genon, (coming soon) sitatungas, duikers (i think) cranes, and more birds in adaptation process. It´s incredible!
So the Valencia Bioparc spent a fortune creating "realistic" rocks, mudbanks, baobab trees etc, AND THEN THEY PUT IN SEVERAL OF THOSE RIDICULOUS "WATERFALLS" STARTING AT THE VERY TOP OF THE HIGHEST ROCKS!!!!!! WOW, HOW NATURAL.....So sad.
I guess it's a way of filtering the pools, if the water was dirty we'd all be complaining.
And how do they mix Chimps with Gorillas...? Can't see that working myself.
I would rather the water was dirty. If the water was brown, the grass was scraggly and there were mature trees it would look so much more natural. I think we are producing a generation of children that will expect something like this when they go to Africa.
this is not Africa, everybody know what is a zoo.
In Bioparc, the animals drink directly from the rivers, they don`t have artificials drinkers. So that, the water always clean, fresh and clear!
