We only saw one animal, but a youngster was born a few days after we were there.

It is interesting how clearly defined the hyaena pathways are, and how well mowed the grass is in this exhibit. Many of the Bioparc's exhibits appear to be beautiful but also well-manicured and neat.

Manicured and cared for, but extremely fake!

Although I wouldn't want every zoo to be like this (it's all about the variety!), Bioparc Valencia is an excellent example of a fully-themed zoo, and generally is very nicely done. The one chink in the armour are indeed the manicured lawns - in the ape exhibits, the large carnivore exhibits, the main savannah and others. They're very attractive to the eye, and show the animals off very nicely - but they don't look anything like natural grassland!

I totally agree with you boys, too much neat and clean for my taste, should let the grass grow in a way a little wild. Now the hyena pup it's present at the exhibit with his/her? parents.
