Possibly because it's a European non - UK native, I suppose, and the powers that be just think "mink". A pity, though: I'd love to see the species as well.
The irony is, the American invaders are ostensibly everywhere and yet they are the only wild mustelid found in the UK which I have not seen - in the wild or captivity.
Comes to something when one has seen the elusive otter and pine marten in the wild, but not the mink!
I had no idea there is a zoo in Cordoba! I was there a few years ago to see La Mezquita (on way to Sierra Andujar for wild lynx) but never heard anything about a zoo.

Likewise......we did exactly the same thing in Oct last year. Visitied Cordoba (from Seville) to see the Mezquita and while having lunch saw a leaflet advertising the zoo. I hadn't heard anything about it, ever, not on this site or elsewhere. We didn't go as not enough time, although I did realise that it was very close to the centre of Cordoba (easy walking distance).
Anyway, we vowed to return which we did this Jan. Wasn't expecting too much, but was very pleasantly surprised.
