I find the Bear enclosure very interesting. Given they don't overcrowd(far from it) in the other e.g. African enclosures, why keep so many Bears together?
I would really like to know if they are pure Spanish bears too, or just 'European'.

A lot of bears, but I'd still say they have far more space per bear than anywhere keeping bears in the UK (even YWP/Highland/Woburn). Keep in mind all the cliff/hillside space and the land at the top is accessible for them, and this is only a quarter-to-third of the length at most.
I'm starting to worry I've done them a disservice by photographing all the bears together like this as it's giving a false impression!
No you didn't as had you not done so, we wouldn't know just how many Bears there are here. Still find it a bit odd though, even in such a huge enclosure, after all they are comparatively solitary animals. Without so many they would not be so visible, but still...
@Pertinax I've always wondered this, too. How many Tigers and Jaguars do they keep together, for example? They wouldn't be the only zoo to have done this, either. I often see photos on here of black bears in similar numbers in US roadside zoos. Further to this, I often notice that back in the old pit and grotto days, there was always a habit of displaying bears in groups, which you wouldn't see in, for example, big cats which are also solitary.
