It is true that susi is an older animal, so moving her is difficult, but this exhibit is constantly used by spanish anti - zoo activists as example of the worst. I have read that susi now shares the space with another female elephant,but was that really an adequate solution? Does barcelona zoo really need to keep the elephants and common hippos in that african circle ?

And yet the elephants have more space now than they did - when I first visited within this 'circle' were African Elephant, Common Hippo, Giraffe, Blesbok and White Rhino - now the rhino has moved outside it and Blesbok were nowhere to be seen.
There are no longer blesboks at the zoo. They were moved at one of the 3 provisional enclosures at the north zone of the zoo, but now there are some axis (nilgais, warthogs (one male only) and axis, each one in one of these provisional exhibits)

Thanks again - we did look in those new exhibits for them! We saw the Axis and Nilgai but no warthog in that area (we did see the ones in the main exhibit).
The warthog maybe was at the rear part of the exhibit (not on display). It was separated from the rest of the individuals. Now it's on the area that was occupied by the warthogs that are in the new exhibit.
