This must be one of the world's truly great lion exhibits. Take away that back fence and there's not anyone who wouldn't think that this photo was taken somewhere in Africa!
It's as large as ever, as are all the drive-through habitats at the Monarto Zoo. When I visited in June of 2007 the lions were difficult to spot but eventually the bus went within a few feet of them.
