I found this batch of pictures very interesting and highly illustrative, swedish beaver. Very much in synch with the picture of the functional and animal-friendly but in other aspects rather austere "Swedish zoo tradition" that I have tried to paint here at ZooChat.
This rhino stable certainly seems very functional and most probably keep the animals warm in the winter -aesthetics is not issue though and the plant to the left in this picture appear almost tragic in this content...
Though... on a more serious note: Look at the wooden chip floor! Although I have not heard about foot problems with rhinos on concrete floor - unlike elephants - this precaution still strikes me as as something very good.
It´s actually too small for all the three rhinos and when the calf is coming in december. kolmården will build a new rhinos stable soon i don´t now when it´s ready for the rhinos to move in.
Glad to hear about that, swedish beaver. Right now the elephants and the rhinos are housed in the same building, right? Do you know if this new house for the rhinos means any changes for the elephants?
yes thats right that they live in the same house. There will be no change for the elephants. The bull and one off the cows will move to the new stable.
