The park is open during the school holidays and there are also many special guiding's for both hotel guests and schools. Kolmården have a education and research centre which welcomes over twelve thousand students when the park is closed during winter, spring and fall every year. The students get a chance to learn about animals and meet them close up in the zoo. There are also two zoo-keeper education programs with work practice and courses in the zoo (one which I attend). The zoo also cooperates with some universities.
Yes the hotel is open all year around and if you book a "weekend package" you get a guided "wildlife tour" and you can pay extra for example a close meeting with the dolphins etc. But as I understand the hotel guest have no free acess to the zoo during winter so they can walk around as they like (so only with a guide) There are also many companies holding conferences at the hotel and the conference package also includes meeting the animals. A very popular winter activity was meeting the wolves, but after a zoo keeper got killed last summer there ar no contact with the wolves.
