What a lovely animal it is, the moose! On our way back home from the park, one of my friends remarked that we had just seen "The Big Five of Sweden" - bear, wolf, lynx, wolverine and MOOSE!

Moose are wonderful...!

It is interesting that the Eurasian(Scandinavian) form never appear to have the enlarged Palmate/flattened antlers of the North American version. European always have simpler antler formation?
 
European elks do also have palmate antlers. Which shape the antlers of a bull will take depends on his genetic heritage. The nutrition level of the consumed food will also have an impact on the tendency the get either type of antlers. So there are often regional differences. In northern Sweden palmate antlers is the most common for example.
