Electus Parrot

Mesopatamian Fallow Deer

Never realised there were any in Australia, ISIS has them listed as 1.0 (pure bred) with one birth in the last 6 months and 1.2 hybrid.

The Buck's antlers in this photo resemble a European fallow deer's(palmated) more than a Persian Fallow. So not pure (if even hybrid) I wouldn't think.

Those ones look to dark in colour and the antlers beams dont seem flat enough, although it could be the angle. I have been talking to a bloke who has been doing a lot of AI and has got his Messos looking as good as the ones you see in the middle east. I hope to get up to Bobs place and take some photos soon.

It looks about 50/50 to be fair.
The D dama antler genetics really dominate when crossed,& look like this.
Our "domestic pure" persians took much selection as well as 5 crosses to get them to where they are now.

We have animals which resemble the "type" although all were produced using D dama as the original dams & pure semen brought in through NZ.
There is still some straws from 20 years ago in several tanks around the country,& I will be doing the AI again in a couple of years on some of this years best doe fawns, all going well.

Another result of aggriculture in this country doing all the lifting & paying for this species to be here.

Being cities listed the pures have no value other than to provide sires, as they cant be sold,so the genetics has been used over the european fallow to produce larger carcases.First crosses can be killed & exported ,but not any parts from animals approaching pure. Its a case of cities preventing restoration,as now thousands of these animals would be found on farms around the country, instead most venison fallow farmers now run hybrids.
