According to a magazine article I read a few years ago there should be some orb web spiders of the species Nephila senegalensis moving freely in the African section. Luckily for arachnophobians, the spiders "...seems to thrive best far away from the pathway."
Nothing you would look for if you don't know about their existence, but I will definitely keep my eyes open for them next time I visit.
I've seen "free ranging" Nephila spiders in some zoos. Apparently they can be taught to build their webs in certain places, simply by removing the web every time they start building somewhere else.
