Papiliorama - Swiss Butterfly Garden

The Swiss Butterfly Garden in the outdoor area of the Papiliorama. The Swiss Butterfly Garden is an outdoor aviary totalling a size of 500 sqm opened in 2004. Inside this walkthrough aviary lives 10 species of indigenous butterfly species all living out their natural life cycle in the recreated Swiss biomes of rocky slopes and grassy meadows.

The aim of this aviary is the spread the conservation message about the ever decreasing butterfly habitats in Switzerland.

Dare I suggest that I have found a zoo here that you haven't visited, Maguari? :p I would have thought you would have made a point of seeing the Papiliorama long ago because of the Nocturama.

No, I've not made it there yet - though you're right in saying it's long been on my small-mammal radar!

And I assume that would be for the pacas, couendus, various bats and tayras? I actually managed to see a paca swim when I visited the Nocturama. Quite a sight (even though it was very dark).

Yes indeed - particularly the pacas as this was one of the first places they turned up!
