Sumatran Rhino

This is Betina, the sumatran rhino of Basel Zoo. She was captured together with 8 another females and one male in 1959 as part of an planned breeding programme. Unfortuantely, the male could escape, three females were send to basel, copenhagen and bogor and the other 6 were realeased. Betina arrived in july 1959 and died in 1961.

not sure i quite understand that info but i agree with mark - its an interesting photo

Betina (the rhino pictured) was captured in 1959 along with 8 other females and a male for a breeding programme between Copenhagen, Basle and Bogor

The male escaped, each zoo recieved one female and the remaining 6 female rhinos were released.
