one of the 3 former outdoor enclosures for black rhino. This area will soon be remade into an Australian walk-through enclosure with bennet wallaby, emu and possibly also European rabbit. Opening date is set for 2018. The house will also have koala, perentie and moloch

Sounds like a fairly ordinary walkthrough, but some of the indoor species are nice, especially Moloch - rarely held within Australia and apparently absent in public collections in Europe (according to Zootierliste). Are they privately kept in Europe? The house should be big enough to have a few species, will free-flying birds be included?

where does the idea of moloch come from? They certainly won't be displaying them!

I do not know where they got the idea from, but they are fully featured (not just mentioned) in the new zoo guide, that was just released. Perentie monitors would also be the only ones in Europe....

perenties aren't a big deal, in that there are quite a number in Australian zoos and they are also bred in captivity. Moloch, however, have proven exceedingly difficult to breed and they have quite an exacting diet - apart for the one or two at the Melbourne Museum they are only kept at Alice Springs, and I can't imagine any being legally exported given their requirements.

I am also a bit skeptical, but apparently Zoo Zurich feels quite sure about it, otherwise they wouldn't mention it like this, or they have not thought it through yet, which would be quite untypical.... In two years time we will know what has come out...

@Cat-Man There's conflicting reports about if they ended up getting them at all, but they certainly don't have them now and they've never been on exhibit.
