It's truly amazing at how many rarities there are at many tiny, privately-owned Dutch zoos. I can travel to hundreds of North American collections and not see dozens of species that I'll view this summer while in Europe. Bring on a Cusimanse!

@snowleopard It is indeed remarkable how many rare(ly seen) species are kept in the small private Dutch zoos. That was in fact one of the major motivations behind me visiting three small Dutch collections (Zie-Zoo, BestZoo and Faunapark Flakkee) this Spring. Most of the collections I had visited until now where major collections and most of these species I would never see at the major collections in Northwestern Europe (although some German or Eastern European zoos do keep species like, and cusimanse are also kept in the Netherlands at GaiaZoo).

I hope everything goes well during your European zoo trip and that you'll have as much luck as possible and get to see as many of these rarities as possible.

@snowleopard Yes, this is true. But conversely, things that are two-a-penny in those marvellous zoos off-the-beaten-track in Wisconsin or wherever are not to be seen in Europe (or are rarely seen) - Bobcats, American Badgers, Coyote...
