The indoor area with its harsh metal and kiddie playground equipment is in sharp contrast to the more natural-looking outdoor yard:

I loved this exhibit as a alternative to the superb outdoor exhibit. I think the zoo should be commended for not being overly previous and placing the enrichment needs of the animal above the aesthetic of a naturalistic environment that this exhibit was never going to be.

The Bonobo Troops in Columbus are very active both indoors and outdoors.

I have actually never seen an inactive troop of Bonobo's! Given there sexual nature, seemingly freedom to reproduce and dominance by females they constantly seem on the move.

I wonder if one day they will replace chimps in popularity!
