The Pampas exhibit then (as now) were also inhabited by guanacos, capybaras, greater rheas and crested screamers. The maras also still live on the pampas. However, the anteaters were not a success on the Pampas dues to high stress levels and were later moved back to their old enclosure in 2001 where they immediately started breeding again.
