Thanks for posting this photo of the young bull Tonsak. I saw him first time in March 2003 when he shared the old giraffe enclosure with Surin and Kungrao. As you probably know Tonsak and Kungrao are gifts from the King of Thailand to Queen Margaret of Denmark, while Surin is a gift from the people of Surin in northern Thailand to the people of Denmark
You should definitely make a new visit. It's probably one of the best elephant exhibits in Europe if not in the world. I have made 10 visits to this zoo since the opening of the new house and enclosure and it delights me every time to see how much the elephants appear to enjoy their new environment. The large bull Chieng Mai who turns 50 years old this year has stopped weaving. Probably because he has been given more space to roam around both indoors and outdoors.
