Cougar exhibit

When I photograph exhibits, I like to have one of the animals visible as a scale, to show the size relevant to the occupants. Unfortunately, on this hot day, the two cougars were resting in the shade in their rock den, the black area just to the right of the two trees (which are to the right of the waterfall).

Actually, it's five photos - thank goodness for Stitch Assist!

As for cougars in Oz - Taronga hasn't has any for some years, and I don't recall seeing them at Adelaide or Melbourne when I was there last year. There's possibly a handful around in captivity - and all the ones living in the wild, of course!

I think Melbournes is still alive because I remember seeing it a few trips ago and haven't heard anything about it dieing. The sign was still up on my last visit as well.

That's quite possible - my visit to Melbourne Zoo was a bit hurried last year so I may have missed it/them.

Those big cat enclosures along the side of Melbourne Zoo don't really have the best viewing (they're very narrow and go a long way back from the path) so there are times I can't see the animals in there and will have to give up searching after a while.

P.S. I did it without realising but I've got more than 1,000 posts.

There are also two females at Dreamworld which are sisters.

I have always thought there should be elephants in that exhbit (from the photos, i've never seen the size) it just looks like they would look good in it.

They might look good in there, but it's not really big enough. Having said that, it's still much larger than many elephant enclosures I've seen!
