A very interseting species, not a big fan of rodents but these guys are great! I can't explain why but I love them. Also seriously under-represented in the UK, I think they're only held at Wildwood which in my view is a shame.

I don't think many ecologists would agree with you as they are classified as a pest species in Britain after captive populations have escaped and are wreaking havoc on freshwater ecosystems.

Fortunately, they wreak no more - they were eradicated (in the UK at least) in the late 1980s.

I have checked my files and right you are! I thought they still lived in Britain. Well done for getting rid of them. It seems that they are back in Denmark having wandered up from Germany along with raccoons and raccoon dogs.

Sometimes there are definite advantages to being an island! :D
 
never heard of these before:) ^and a very british phrase, don't think i've gone a history lesson without my teacher saying that:D
