Also, substrate choice seems very poor. Clay balls and foam make it so that the frogs are unable to bury themselves, which makes them easier to see but is terrible welfare-wise
@Mossman Joe This is more than likely intentional. The terrarium have more dirt during my last visit (August 2024) and only have one frog, something later on might changes that for some reason.
@Rizz Carlton haha, looks like BX Sea acquired this species because pacman frogs are currently trending in pet trade and BX Sea didn't really know how to take care of this frogs correctly.
@Caribbean Flamingo it's most likely that, like @Mossman Joe said, they done it to make the pacman frogs to be easier to vew by guests. But, the fact that they put a pair of pacman frogs in a single and cramped exhibit does indeed mean that they truly have no idea how to propley maintain them.
@Rizz Carlton@Caribbean Flamingo Actually, I retract my statement, looking closely at it again, it looks to be charcoal, not foam, so I believe aside from the multiple frogs, this would have been a passable enclosure for any other small tropical herptile.
However, since Pacmans are a burrowing species, the substrate must have been too shallow, causing the frogs to mix up the substrate layer everytime it digs down. In short, it's still not a suitable setup, but only because they tried housing burrowing frogs the same way with other tropical herp species
