One of the crocodile pools in Barcelona Zoo has always had coins thrown in it. Whether it housed american alligators or spectacled caiman and alligator snapping turtles, that one pool is usually filled with coins.
I often suggest that crocodile pits should have security cameras nearby; whoever throws a coin at the animals or the enclosure either pays a fine or goes in there and gets it! That'll teach those idiots! >
