It’s great to see Chester housing the father with the cubs. Though common practice in European zoos, none of the Australasian zoos have done this since the 1980’s. Far from the father being a danger to their cubs, it’s clearly a very enriching experience for them all.
@Alwaysevergreen Males tigers can encounter their cubs in the wild, though they play no part in raising them.
Housing the tigers together means they can collectively have the run of a larger space than if there were multiple groupings of tigers - each requiring their own exhibit space. It’s also enriching for all tigers involved and the risk to the cub’s safety is minimal.
