Deer ID

Taken in Mysore Zoo, 2015.
@Mai Thai I considered it, but it seems unlikely. Chital snout is a bit shorter, background, reddish colour of the coat is darker, they have darker facial markings and the spots are larger. I considered fallow deer as well which have a longer snout and light facial markings, but the other characters don’t seem to match either. Maybe it’s an Eld’s deer? Spotting is quite rare in that species however, and the antlers seem wrong. Also, another photo I have of the Eld’s deer in this zoo shows them with a longer, more ‘grizzled coat’ with less prominent spotting.

@Mo Hassan I considered it, but I though the snout looked a little too long and the spots a bit too faint for that species. Also, the zoo inventory for 2015 doesn’t list the species, but they are a tad bit unreliable., so Sika deer is always a possibility.
