Are there still Burmese brown tortoises in that exhibit as well?

Not on exhibit for a couple months now. One of the pair was killed in the middle of the night, we think by a racoon, and the other is being held in back in "protective custody." How do we know it was a racoon (which no one has seen or been able to catch)? Apparently because it used a telltale racoon habit: eating only the victim's head.:(

The LA Zoo has to lock up the flamingos at night due to coyotes (and maybe racoons) that live at the zoo at night.

Taronga used to lock up their flamingos because of feral foxes.

I think this is the first time I've seen Demoiselle Cranes in a forest environment. I've only ever seen them before in open grassy paddocks.

Well, since the racoon was never caught and the remaining crane had no hope of going back on exhibit, it was recently shipped to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The female muntjac is back to a solitary existence (except for the turtles in her pond).
