Among the wide variety of reptile and amphibian taxa displayed within the Vivarium at Wilhelma, I was pleased to note that several species of venomous snake - a group which is rapidly diminishing in captive collections - were included among the collection. This species was particularly difficult to photograph, as the colour of the surrounding sand and rock made it hard for my camera to focus on the snake itself; however, with patience and experimentation I was able to take this photograph.
