Is this photo showing 3 separate exhibits? Some of the smaller terrariums (in other photos) appear to be painfully small but there are also some rather spacious enclosures that seem to be very impressive. I would be curious if the larger exhibits were built more recently in comparison to when the museum opened in 1982.
The smaller terraria are deeper than they appear and they all hold very small species, such as tarantulas and black widow spiders so none of them felt too small for their occupants. This exhibit is only one, but the burrowing owl has a divided off exhibit for gopher snakes and rattlesnakes attached to it. The Desertarium is all excellent and far better than I had anticipated. The look is all very uniform and appears to have all been built at the same time.
