Destination Africa - Hooded Vulture Exhibit

Aug. 16th, 2012.
What keeps them from flying out of the enclosure?

The wings are clipped on the bird, which is common practice for vultures in many North American zoos. On a side note, the pool in the background is home to Nile Hippos and there is also a giraffe indoor exhibit that can be seen as well.

There are no longer any vultures at the zoo and this exhibit now holds African Crested Porcupines. Just to the left-hand side (and not in the photo) is an enclosure that houses at least 22 meerkats and that in itself is quite a sight!
