This is a really bizarre summer promotion they have going on. They have partnered with a local jewelry store to celebrate the museum's 60th anniversary, which is know as the diamond jubilee. So they have this display called Diamonds in the Desert. It showcases a variety of diamondback rattlesnakes (and other rattlesnake species), with some unusual color morphs. This I think is great! But they have put actual diamonds from the jewelry store in the display cases. To me this looks goofy and it also seems like an odd alliance for the region's leading conservation center. Diamond mining is not the most environmentally friendly practice as far as I know.
