Does anyone know what is happening to this exhibit at the moment? When I was there the camels were in part of the addax exhibit and the onagers were in the old giraffe exhibit. Is it just a temporary measure while the big aviary is being renovated or are they renovating this exhibit at the same time?
That is just temporary, at the moment they are renovating there whole Asian section. Where the onagers and camels are now, they will construct an enclosure for black rhino's, unfortunately the asian rhino's will leave the zoo then and the tapirs will move into their exhibit.

That is too bad. I love Blijdorp's current outdoor Indian Rhino exhibits, and putting black rhinos next to Celebes macaques, Asian elephants etc. seems like a step backward from the excellent zoogeographic arrangement the zoo has been moving toward for the past 20 years.

But @lintworm said that the black rhinos will get a new exhibit (probably in the Africa area?) while the malayan tapirs move into the old indian rhino exhibit. So no worries about the zoogeographic arrangement.
I will also be very sad to see the indian rhinos go from Rotterdam but I understand the decision as the exhibit really isn't optimal for rhino management.
@lintworm: Do you know what will go into the old tapir exhibit then? Babirusas? Muntjaks? Something even better?
