Not sure about incongruous considering each animal is consistent with the theme as they represent an extinct animal from the area. Each of these exhibits has a sign describing the extinct animal, and many have statues of said animal. I understand if some don't like the theme, but the exhibit does support the concept.
And even if you think the elephant exhibit is hideous, I don't think most of the other exhibits can be described as such.
