@twilighter The sentiment it gives to me is a nice one - seemingly just as they did in the times of Ancient Egypt - cats, in larger society today, are placed at a role of which may be considered more 'leveraged' than most other species of mammal or animal - but in this setting, the zoo rightfully steps in as if to make a statement that our domestic cats, on the grand scale of life in the universe, are at no intrinsic higher place than any other cat species. Some American zoos are seeming to experiment with this concept to some extent - allowing for cheetahs to be walked on a lead like a dog and be stroked as well. As one philosopher said [or maybe he didn't] - "any zoo is a petting zoo until the hand falls off."
But enough of my ramblings ...
