No offense, but Its near impossibble to tell them apart for me, last time I got corrected for Hairy woodpecker Being MisID'd a Downy woodpecker, so I assumed as much.
 
@CheeseChameleon2007 Downy and Hairy are mixed up all the time, and overlap across much of North America. Key points here are the black bars in the white tail edge, and the bill is clearly way shorter than the head. Downy is also notably smaller than Hairy, but the size difference is often only apparent when they're near each other.
