Howmany Drills are kept there at the moment and are there plans to bring some of them to western ( European / American ) zoos ?

Between Drill Ranch (Afi) and Pandrillus HQ, there are over 300 captive drill. Founder Peter Jenkins started captive breeding to release them in Afi Mountain over 20 years ago, but he's become a 'victim of his own success', in his own words. Afi still teems with snares, and falls to chainsaws, so the release is reliant on the Anti-Deforestation Task Force and their efforts to make Afi safe.

Peter would like to get some into US and European zoos, but at present it's an extremely difficult proposition, permit-wise.

The exhibit looks quite small for the number of animals held. Does it go further back?

Oh yes, it's actually huge. It was pouring with rain for most of the 3 days I spent there, so my images are fairly limited. I have some more to come.

That would certainly allow a nice boost in the captive genepools, considering how many he has!
