I hadn't realised they were in an Aviary before, but thinking about it if they had been in an open situation they would probably have all disappeared even sooner.
I wonder if you ever get Mandarins and Carolinas in one mixed brood? It would require synchronised laying by two females in the one nest and in the hatching too- I suspect incubation periods are marginally different by a day or so anyway which might throw a spanner in the works.
I'm thinking they were(are) still all(both)the same species- Mandarins?
