Eagle Owl at Niendorf 05/09/07

Bubo sumatranus (I think... see below)

OK - here's the deal. This place has loads of owls. Loads. I have notes to say I have photos of 7 Bubo taxa and I have 7 photos of eagle/horned owls. However, the correct sequence of my notes has been lost to the mists of time. The taxa I photographed are:

Bubo africanus
Bubo ascalaphus
Bubo bubo sibiricus
Bubo cinerascens
Bubo sumatranus
Bubo virginianus nacurutu
Bubo virginianus subarcticus

Now I readily admit this is group I struggle with - I think I've matched them up correctly through memory of which bird was which and looking at some other photos online, but if any Bubo experts out there have any corrections please let me know!

Think you are correct with this one as I remember it been a bloody awful position to get a photo of.

Cheers zg. It's one of the more distinctive birds, too, with the creepy dark eyes - this is definitely the one I'm happiest with my ID for.
