Mr Wrinkly

Eastern American Toad

Interesting. I've seen grey tree frogs in the pavilion before, but not this guy. Is it an American Toad?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was just a regular old toad who found his way into a cozy warm, building with tons of food and no predators. But for all I know it could be from Indomalaya.

Frog, toad, I wouldn't know.

Yesterday the keepers were gone for the day but I will ask about him next time.

According to a keeper this is an ordinary toad making himself at home inside where there are lots of cockroaches for him to eat, something I would prefer not to have known. He certainly is well-fed.

Thanks for sharing that disgusting tidbit Mr. Wrinkly. I'd have preferred not to know the cockroach thing too. But it is nice to know its just a common Canadian toad who was smart enough to move in for the winter where its warm, there are no predators and plenty of food.
