Eastern hoolock gibbon mother and infant. Kunming actually holds two species of hoolock gibbons. Their lone skywalker hoolock gibbon, a 31-year-old male named Dashuang, was confirmed still alive as of 2024. He is also one of the 22 captive hoolock gibbons studied in Fan et. al. (2017), the paper that describes H. tianxing as a new species. The male rotates with eastern hoolock gibbons so I didn't get to see him during my visit.
