Elegant crested Tinamou. It was in the old orang enclosure with Two Yellow Billed Storks and two hammerkop.

Thanks MT, never heard of/seen this species
Isis lists it as the only one in the UK

Well they are increasing the number of animals they have in that enclosure. Maybe to slow down the start of work on the tropical exhibit.

hehe I won't deny that Maguari. I just have really high hopes for this new tropical exhibit. I'm hoping it will be 1 of 2 very impressive exhibits at Colchester (the other being the sealion pool). Something to help impress some of the people who aren't so keen on Colchester.

Very unusual for Colchester to introduce a new bird species to the UK. They are usually only notable for their mammals. I am pleasantly surprised to see this species here.
