@Blackduiker: you bring up an excellent point, and one that I've stated myself on numerous occasions. In 1989 Elephant Forest opened to the public, praise was lavished upon it, and the winding habitat promptly won the AZA Best Exhibit of the year award. Now exactly 20 years later having 1.5 acres for elephants is not such a big deal. In the next few years there will be approximately 25 different American zoos with elephant exhibits that are a minimum of 3 acres!
