Zurich certainly has some brilliant sections, as the "Asian Highlands" area (snow leopards, Amur tigers, Mongolian wolves, red pandas), the spectacled bear/coati enclosures, the "African Mountain" area (gelada baboons, nubian ibex, geese and hyrax) and of course the beautiful Masoala Rainforest building means that this zoo has FOUR world-class zones that are arguably amongst the best of their kind. Considering that many major zoos around the world do not have any world-class, top-notch areas then that is quite an achievement. It would be interesting to hear from European ZooChatters where Zurich would rank in the upper echelon of zoos. Top 10 or top 20 for Europe?
Certainly in my top 20 and quite likely top 10 for me. It's a very good place. That'd probably rise to a definite top 10 if the elephant and ape houses were done up to the standard of the rest of zoo (which of course is in progress for the elephants). The four areas you mention are of an exceptionally high quality.
