Greater Vancouver Zoo has a couple of burros in a green meadow, and they make for an engaging exhibit as they stick their black, shaggy heads through the fence and visitors pet them and feed them grass. In regards to the enclosure in the photo I personally think that it is a contender for one of the worst exhibits at San Diego Zoo. There is a lot of metal prominently displayed, but not quite as much steel as is found in the "Elephant Care Center" barn.
I'm imagining the tour guides/docents/whatever they have there walking past with a group and saying "and now here we have an exact recreation of what America looked like in the Pleistocene....."
