During my visit, this wild deer approached the elephant enclosure, possibly to steal some hay. In this picture, you can see a moment when Anna the elephant extended her ears and vocalized-- possibly to try to scare the deer away. I liked seeing the eye contact in this confrontation between the two animals.
@ZooElephantsMan Anna has a bit of an odd personality, she can react to things in a confusing manner sometimes. There are so many wild deer at Maryland! Though I've never personally seen them come this close to any enclosure other than the barn animals.
@TinoPup I’ve never really seen wild deer at a zoo before, so this was a first for me. I was one of the only people there (due to bad weather), so the less crowded atmosphere with less noise may have made the deer more comfortable approaching more visitor areas.
