Elephantnose fish

Aquarium, Chester, 13th March 2018
Gnathonemus petersii. The current aquarium for this species and the butterfly barbs is one of my favourite aquarium displays ever - which is not a statement I make lightly. Neither species is exactly easy to keep and both can look unsettled and unhappy if conditions do not suit them. However in this tank they look completely at home and even boisterous. The only down side is that it is so dark and the fishes are so active that photography is very difficult.
